This is the
Carers Club
The Club I wish I’d had when I was a carer for my mum, Jillian.
The Club where I could express all of my struggles, fears and triumphs with people who got it.
The Club I want now as I navigate life as a bereaved Carer.
The Carers Club is a space for everyone! Our community is built on connection, candour and compassion.
It doesn’t matter what your story is.
Whether you’re currently caring for a Loved One at home or from afar, have lost a Loved One and are looking for a community who understands your grief, or are a friend of a carer and want to learn how best to support them.
We’re here for you
Our Values
-
Connection
With others who ‘get it’ so you don't feel like a ship lost at sea.
-
Compassion
For ourselves and each other, as we recognise we’re all human.
-
Candour
We don't shy away from the hard stuff and know how to have a laugh.
Hi!
I'm Emma!
I care and create for carers.
In my mid-twenties, I found myself as a first-time mum, Wifey, holding down a job and caring for my best friend who happened to be my Mum.
Mum was battling a GBM Stage IV brain tumour. She died 16 months after diagnosis.
What I remember of that time is complete overwhelm and isolation. My friends were amazing but hadn’t been through a similar experience. I wanted to talk to someone who ‘got’ all the practical, emotional and mental ‘stuff’ that went with being a carer. I wanted to feel seen, heard and understood. I also wanted to carve out some ‘me time’ for much needed decompression from all of the stress and grief.
7 years later, I’m now a Mama to 3, still a Wifey to 1 and Founder of The Carers Club.
I’m a Canberra girl who has been living and loving the Sunshine Coast since late 2018. After spending over 15 years in public relations and content creation, I’m now following my heart and soul and dedicating all my time to The Carers Club.
I also create content for carers and collaborate with like-minded organisations and communities.
When not working or studying for my Certificate IV in Community Services, you’ll find me on a beach walk listening to a podcast.
Much love,
Em x
“Emma has the most comforting energy — just being around her has been so therapeutic for me over the last 2 years. The Circles have provided me with so much support. They are a safe space and have been incredible at normalising my grief in a world that moves on too quickly. I love how Emma keeps it real and often just knows what to say.”
